What a RAMS for facilities management has to show
A facilities management RAMS has to satisfy the building's own permit system as well as the law. FM contractors work in buildings that stay open, under a client's fire arrangements, asbestos register and permit-to-work scheme, and the RAMS is what shows the client's compliance team that each visit was planned around all three.
A RAMS Pal document for FM work asks about the tasks in the visit, occupied areas, electrical isolation, work at height and confined plant rooms, and produces the segregation and signage, the isolation and permit steps and the access controls in the method statement, with emergency arrangements that can carry the check-in procedure for lone working. The legislation section names the duties that apply to the visit, and the sign-off records the briefing before work starts.
Planned preventative maintenance visits, reactive repairs, plant room servicing, lighting and lamp replacement, minor electrical and plumbing works and permit-controlled tasks are all covered, and each engineer's cards and training are recorded in the personnel section.
