RAMS for Welders

A welding RAMS is read for the hot works permit, the fire watch and the fume control. Since 2019 HSE treats all welding fume as a cause of cancer, so a method statement that does not specify local exhaust ventilation or RPE for indoor welding is out of date; and a site will want the hot works permit, the fire watch duration and the cylinder handling written down before any arc is struck.

A RAMS Pal document for welding asks about hot works, fume, fire, noise, work at height and electrical supply, and produces the permit, the fire watch and combustible-clearance steps and the cylinder handling arrangements in the method statement, with the hazard rows open to edit so extraction and RPE for welding fume are stated the way your set-up works. Eye and skin protection to standard, and the interface with other trades, are scored alongside.
