RAMS for Solar Installers

A solar PV RAMS combines two things sites check hardest: work at height and electrical work on a system that cannot be switched off. Panels generate DC voltage as soon as they see daylight, so the document has to show how strings are kept isolated and how the DC side is treated as live throughout, as well as how the roof is accessed and protected.

A RAMS Pal document for solar work asks about the roof, the access method, whether panels are lifted by MEWP, hoist or crane, and whether electrical isolation is required. The answers produce the edge protection and roof access controls, the lifting arrangements, the isolation steps in the method statement, and the PPE schedule for both hazards; the DC-live warning is written into the electric shock hazard row.
