RAMS for Maintenance Engineers

A maintenance RAMS has to work for a visit that was booked yesterday. Facilities managers and building owners still expect a job-specific document before a contractor works in an occupied building, and reactive repairs bring the same hazards as planned work: electrical isolation, work at height, machinery, manual handling and people going about their day a few metres away.

A RAMS Pal document for maintenance asks what the visit involves and where, and produces the isolation, access and segregation controls with the method statement for that task, in minutes rather than the afternoon it takes to adapt an old document. Duplicating a previous visit to the same site and changing the task and date is the usual way to issue one.

Reactive repairs, planned servicing, plant maintenance, lighting replacement, door and access repairs and building fabric works are all covered, and the document records each engineer's cards and the pre-use checks on the tools and access equipment they bring.
