Roofers working at height with edge protection in place
What a RAMS for scaffolders has to show
A scaffolding RAMS is read against SG4 and TG20 before anything else. The site wants to see how the scaffolders are protected while the scaffold does not yet exist, how the public and other trades are kept out from underneath, how materials are lifted, and that the design or TG20 compliance sheet for this scaffold is in hand.
A RAMS Pal document for scaffolding asks about the working height, the access, the lifting method, the weather limits and the public interface, and produces the fall prevention hierarchy, the exclusion zones, the hoist or gin wheel controls and the handover and inspection steps in the method statement. Manual handling of tubes, boards and fittings and moving vehicles on the site are scored alongside.
Independent and birdcage scaffolds, alterations, dismantling, loading bays and temporary roofs are all covered, and the competencies section records each operative's CISRS card and grade.
